National Tax Service Imposes Taxes on Yoo Yeon Seok Following Lee Ha-nee... Agency States "Proceeding with Appeal Against Taxation"

Following actress Lee Ha-nee, it was reported on the 14th that actor Yoo Yeon Seok has also been assessed a large amount of taxes through a National Tax Service audit. 

Some media outlets reported that the taxation authorities recently notified actor Yoo Yeon Seok of a tax assessment amounting to several billion won. 

In response, his agency stated, “It is true that taxes were imposed through a tax audit,” but added, “As we judge there are differences in opinion regarding the imposition, we have applied for a pre-taxation review.”

A pre-taxation review, unlike an appeal filed after the taxation authorities have notified a taxpayer of taxes, refers to a request made before the tax notice is issued, allowing the taxation authority an opportunity for self-correction. 

Accordingly, depending on the decision of the pre-taxation review, there is a significant possibility that the taxes originally imposed by the taxation authorities could be fully canceled or partially accepted (reduced). 

The agency also cautioned against overinterpretation, stating, “We filed for a pre-taxation review last January,” and “We plan to actively explain the matter, and as of now, it is not a finalized or officially notified matter.”
