First Korea-Saudi Arabia Commissioner Meetings Held to Discuss Eliminating Double Taxation for Corporations

The National Tax Service announced on the 6th that Commissioner Kang Min-su and Saudi Arabian Tax Authority Commissioner Suhail Abami held a commissioner meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the 5th (local time) to discuss issues such as eliminating double taxation for corporations.

This marks the first high-level bilateral meeting between tax authorities in the Middle East region. Saudi Arabia is the only major G20 member in the Middle East and is South Korea's largest recipient of overseas construction orders.

Through this meeting, the commissioners of both countries discussed major tax administration issues and agreed to create a tax environment that allows companies to focus on their businesses by supporting the elimination of double taxation for companies expanding into both nations.

Additionally, Commissioner Kang listened to the tax difficulties and suggestions of companies operating in the region during the 'Tax Administration Meeting for Companies Entering Saudi Arabia' and conveyed them to the Saudi Arabian Tax Authority. 

A National Tax Service official stated, “Commissioner Kang Min-su requested the Saudi Arabian Tax Authority to open a 'civil complaint window for Korean companies' (tentatively named 'Korean Desk') to work toward preventing and quickly resolving the tax difficulties of our local companies,” and added, “Commissioner Suhail Abami responded positively to this.”
